TNSTC Trichy Takes Action Against Employees After Conductor Falls from Moving Bus

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) in the Trichy region has initiated disciplinary action against three employees following an incident where a conductor fell from a moving bus along with a detached seat.

The bus, which was en route from Srirangam to KK Nagar, is affiliated with the Dheeran Nagar depot. Notices have been issued to the branch manager, assistant engineer, and a technician at the depot to provide explanations regarding the circumstances leading to the incident.

While the management initially hesitated to acknowledge that a conductor was ejected from the moving bus along with a seat, senior officials attributed the incident to the poor condition of SBI Main Road near the Central bus stand, where the incident occurred.

According to a senior TNSTC official, the presence of a massive pothole on the road may have caused the conductor to lose balance and fall from the bus. An inquiry has been initiated to thoroughly investigate the incident and implement preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.

A coordinated inspection of the depots was conducted on Wednesday in response to demands from TNSTC workers and passengers to retire buses that have been in operation for over nine years.

TNSTC officials stated that they are actively refurbishing the fleet, including the renovation of bus bodies. Engineers are regularly dispatched to different depots to assess the physical condition of buses, and efforts are underway to introduce new buses to replace aging ones.

In the wake of the incident, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss have condemned the incident and called upon the state government to procure new buses and ensure the proper maintenance of existing ones.
