In an incident that sounds straight out of a comedy sketch, a TNSTC bus conductor named Murugesan (54) found himself taking an unexpected detour when he fell from a government bus in Tiruchy, accompanied by the seat he was occupying.
As the bus meandered its way from the Tiruchy bus stand to K.K. Nagar, the mundane journey took a comical twist near Kalaiyarangam Hall, where the conductor decided to test the laws of gravity by exiting the bus mid-ride.
Eyewitnesses, initially stunned by the spectacle, later reported that Murugesan, true to his role as a seasoned performer, escaped with nothing more than minor injuries.
His impromptu act of falling from the bus, seat in tow, left onlookers chuckling and scratching their heads in equal measure.
Despite TNSTC officials' initial attempts to sweep the incident under the rug, evidence in the form of photographic documentation forced them to acknowledge the reality of the situation.
The sorry state of the bus, a relic reportedly older than the hills at over 10 years of age, only adds to the absurdity of the situation.
As passengers were shuffled onto another bus and the broken seat received a temporary fix, one can't help but wonder: is this a case of TNSTC's buses hitting a new low, both literally and metaphorically?
Or perhaps it's just a quirky reminder that public transportation in India is never short on surprises.
Regardless, this incident serves as a poignant reminder of the pressing need for improved maintenance standards and safety protocols within the TNSTC fleet.
