Ashok Leyland 15 Meter Multi Axle Bus Launched: Here are the details

Ashok Leyland has introduced its eagerly awaited multi-axle bus chassis, the Ashok Leyland Garud. Although the official launch is still pending, a prototype of the 15-meter chassis was prominently exhibited at the ‘M&HCV Expo’ at BIEC, Bengaluru.

Design and Features

The Ashok Leyland 15-meter bus chassis is designed for high-speed intercity routes, offering expanded saloon space compared to previous models. With an overall length of 14,765 mm and a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 22,500 kg, it is engineered to handle large passenger capacities effortlessly.

This chassis is powered by the A-Series, 4-cylinder engine featuring i-Gen6 technology, which enhances fuel efficiency and shortens travel times.

Variants and Seating

The Ashok Leyland 15-meter chassis is available in two configurations:

- Front Rubber Ended Parabolic, Rear Air Suspension

- Full Air Suspension


Both configurations can be fitted with or without a retarder option. The chassis can accommodate up to 42 sleeper berths arranged in a 2+1 layout or 60 push-back seats in a 2+2 arrangement.

Performance and Engine Details

The Ashok Leyland Garud continues with the same engine platform as the 13.5-meter model launched in 2022. 

It features a front-engine setup with a 5300cc inline four-cylinder engine, equipped with CRS, iEGR, and SCR technologies. This engine produces 248 horsepower and 900 newton meters of torque.

Pricing Information

Although the Ashok Leyland Garud multi-axle chassis has not yet been officially launched, industry estimates suggest a price range between Rs 50-60 lakhs. 

These estimates, provided by Coach Builders India, are speculative and have not been confirmed by Ashok Leyland.
