Two people were killed and 40 injured when a private bus fell from a flyover in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district early Tuesday morning, police reported.
The bus accident occurred near Pachore town around 1:30 am as the bus, carrying 55 passengers, was crossing the flyover, according to an official.
The bus driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plummet to the ground below, said Akansha Sharma, in charge of the Pachore police station.
Two passengers died on the spot, and 40 were injured. Of the injured, 19 sustained critical injuries and were referred to Indore for treatment, while the others are receiving care in various hospitals in Shajapur, Biora, and Pachore, the official added.
One of the deceased has been identified as Harjat Singh, 28, while the identity of the other victim has yet to be determined.
The bus was en route from Indore to Pichhore town in Shivpuri district. Following the accident, the bus driver and conductor fled the scene. Police have launched a search for them and registered a case against them
